Masters-Swim Test and Flip Clinic

Description: In an effort to ensure your safety on the water SRRA will be conducting a swim test and flip clinic for all new rowers on Monday August 11 during the regular Masters rowing session.
Please come prepared to get wet! The temperatures are expected to approach 100 F so this will be a perfect evening to spend some time chilling in the water!
The swim test will require you to demonstrate your ability to tread water for 10 minutes.
The flip clinic will be an opportunity to learn how to get back into a boat following a flip or ejection.
Flips are not uncommon in small boats, most of us have experienced this while rowing in a single or 2x/2-. All it takes is a good crab and before you know it, you're in the water. Knowing how to get back in was critical.

Ane ejection is more common in a larger boat than a flip. and typically follows catching a major crab. A boat under a full head of steam has a lot of power, and if you catch a crab and are not quick enough to lay back and allow the oar to pass over your head the oar handle can catch you in the gut and throw you out of the boat
